Welcome to the Roosevelt Wild Life Collections
The Roosevelt Wild Life Collections (RWLC) is a natural history museum dedicated to the curation of scientifically and educationally valuable specimens that engage students and researchers with the natural world.
Natural history collections are an irreplaceable record of the living history of our planet. The Roosevelt Wild Life Collections and Classroom (RWLCC) in the Lower Level of ESF’s Gateway Building is a modern working museum: an active place for collections-based learning, research, and collections care. Our specimens and their associated data help address scientific questions such as how species’ geographic ranges, physiology, and even diets have changed in response to habitat disturbance, disease, and climate change, helping us to better conserve species and their habitats. We seek to involve students in the daily work of our museum, which directly connects them to the scientific community and to the hard-won value of each specimen and its data.
We are grateful for past support from the National Science Foundation Collections in Support of Biological Research Program, the Institute of Museum and Library Services Museums for America Program, and the Jon Ben Snow Foundation. The RWLC is a proud member of the Natural Science Collections Alliance.
